San Diego Venture Group Announces New Board Members
Donald Williams Elected President for 2008
SAN DIEGO, Dec. 3 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The San Diego Venture Group (SDVG), an association supporting San Diego's entrepreneurial and venture capital community, is pleased to announce the new members of its 2008 Board of Directors. Returning board member Donald Williams, Partner in Charge of Grant Thornton's San Diego office, has been appointed president.
"Our Board of Directors is comprised of some of San Diego's top executives and venture resources," said Rachel Barley, executive director of SDVG. "I'm excited to add our new board members which collectively bring significant entrepreneurial and venture experience in San Diego's leading industries. Peter Arrowsmith
Peter Arrowsmith serves as general partner at JMI Equity, a multistage venture capital/private equity firm focused on investing in software, Internet and business services companies. Peter is a member of the Board of Directors for numerous emerging companies including Arrowhead and Drivecam in San Diego. JMI recently raised its sixth fund and currently manages $1.3B in committed capital.
Carin Canale
Carin Canale is president of Porter Novelli Life Sciences, an international life sciences communication agency. Carin has provided senior level communication strategy to more than 100 life science companies of all shapes and sizes ranging from pre-series A financing to billion dollar public companies. Carin is actively involved in the global life sciences industry, serving on numerous committees and regularly presenting on communication topics at life science conferences. Carin oversees Porter Novelli Life Sciences' operations in San Diego, New York and Boston.
Thomas Coll
Tom Coll is a partner with Cooley Godward Kronish. Tom's practice covers a broad range of general corporate matters, including counseling public and privately-held companies regarding disclosure and reporting requirements, technology licensing, and the formation of new businesses. In 2007, Mr. Coll was named to the Best Lawyers in America list in the categories of Biotechnology Law, Corporate Law, Leveraged Buyouts and Private Equity Law, and Venture Capital Law.
David Diamond
David Diamond is a partner with Mayer Hoffman McCann, an independent CPA firm. Over his 27 year career, David has supported venture-backed technology companies in San Diego, assisting them in financing and profit enhancement, strategic business planning and implementation and advising management on when the company has realized enough value to be sold.
Jeremy Glaser
Jeremy Glaser is a partner in the Corporate Group of Morrison & Foerster's San Diego office, and a co-chair of the Emerging Companies/ Venture Capital Group.
